“If I had Had Joe Espinosa as my coach growing up I would have made it to the Major Leagues.”

Perry Hill
24 year MLB Coach

I have worked with Joe from 7 years old when he was a college coach running his summer camp “BaseballPlus” where I was a camper to now 21 years old where I am a college baseball player. I can honestly say I have been through it all with Joe as he has known me for two thirds of my life and I wouldn’t be where I am now without him. He has everyone’s best interest at heart which is why I kept coming back to him no matter how many times he gave me a Stern talking to (pun intended) in the parking lot or made me sit out of summer camp for not listening.

With everything that Joe has taught us himself, he has also given us other great opportunities to learn and get better by bringing in people like Perry Hill, Dave Jauss, Jeff Smith, and Juan Nieves. Not only getting to work with these professional coaches, but also create relationships with them has allowed me to improve my game in many aspects. Infield with Perry, hitting with Dave, catching with Jeff, and learning about pitching by listening to Juan, not many highschool/college kids can say they have worked with MLB coaches in every part of their game.

From a 9 year old trying to make the town travel team, to a freshman in highschool trying to make JV, to a senior trying to get recruited to college, Joe has been there by my side every step of the way and if it weren’t for him I would not only be a completely different ball player, but a completely different person.

At Espinosa Baseball, I have been able to learn and practice the fundamentals of baseball which have given me a great foundation as a ball player. I could come into the facility everyday and continue to improve myself as a player to my hearts content. Joe has taught me many lessons and helped me grow an immeasurable amount not only on the field, but off the field as well. I can say that I’ve become better at baseball and have become a better person as a result of working here.

The coaching that I’ve received from Perry, Dave, Jeff, and Juan has been invaluable. It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to learn from proven MLB coaches right at home in an individual or small group setting. I’ve worked with Perry the most and he’s watched me grow from when I was just 9 years old, and it’s a special feeling to know that a man of his caliber has taken the time to get to know me and help me along my path.

Joe is a special coach who has helped take me from a small 9 year old with not that much talent, to an all-conference college baseball player. He’s helped me every step of the way, was there to help me get through any rough patches, and has been more than just a coach to me. The connection that he makes with every one of his students makes his facility feel like a second home.

The Dove family was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Joe Espinosa. Joe is a true professional who not only played a key role in JD Dove’s development as a baseball player but also did a great job of guiding our family through the college recruiting process. We have no doubt that Joe’s program was critical in making JD’s dream of playing baseball at Amherst College come true and we will forever be grateful for all his efforts.

Coach Espinosa’s program is not a fit for those looking for a quick tune up. It takes time, effort, and consistent buy-in from the player for results to truly kick in given the emphasis on doing it right vs. short term results. One should also expect honesty + tough love, which can be difficult in the moment but leads to more long term growth. I was the beneficiary of the full gambit of Coach Espinosa’s programming, taking private 2 hour hitting lessons, participating in 4 on 1 hitting clinics, attending special events with pro instructors, training at his summer speed workouts, and many more opportunities. I’d encourage players working with Joe to “buy in” to his process, at it has worked for dozens of players in the past like myself.

On college recruiting: that level of honesty + tough love is extremely important, especially given the misinformation that often pops up around recruitment. Coach Espinosa paints a clear picture of the metrics, academic standards, and skills/fundamentals needed to earn a spot on a college roster. He also is extremely well connected amongst college coaches and knows which schools to target, how to approach them, and how to interpret feedback from coaches. His experience was valuable during my recruiting process and ended up generating an outcome I was very grateful for.

Overall, Coach Espinosa is a great mentor for younger players looking to build the physical + mental skills needed to success in sports as well as life in general. I’d caution players + parents to assess their level of commitment ahead of working with Coach Espinosa, but if you buy into his program fully, one should expect a lot of hard work and great results to follow.

Our son has worked with Joe Espinosa for over seven years.  Joe is truly an exceptional baseball coach and instructor—always giving direct, personalized and amazing instruction…But more notably, we call Joe our coach of life.  He has taught our son to play the game with integrity, confidence, and humility.  He builds a true love for the game and from there develops the mentality and skills of the individual player.  His coaching is the best out there.  Teddy has grown in every possible way under Joe’s coaching and mentorship.  He would not be where he is today as a top student athlete without his years with Joe.

Teddy continues to learn and develop his strength and conditioning to improve his baseball game.  This is the best program available and we are so grateful to Joe and his team!

We highly recommend Espinosa Baseball to any players looking to bring their game to the next level, whatever that may be. After an initial evaluation by Joe and discussion of each of their goals, a plan is devised with those goals in mind. Like many things in life, what you get out of it highly depends on what you put into it. It is a commitment that will span beyond the skills needed on the field or the batter’s box. I often overhear conversations between Joe and the student athletes. They are learning more than baseball. They’re learning life lessons/morals about commitment, resilience, purpose, personal integrity and more.

Our sons benefited in numerous ways including: Skills development (offensive and defense), strength and condition, injury prevention and flexibility, nutritional advice on how to best nourish their minds and bodies with an emphasis on building healthy muscle, the mental aspects of the game and much more. Joe takes a personal interest in the lives of their clients outside of the facility and stress the importance of working hard in the classroom as well. This program will provide the individual attention and high level fine turning that team programs simply cannot provide during regular team practices. Each lesson and the associated drills prepared for the players demonstrate a clear progression towards the objective. Joe will break down every aspect of the swing (or defense or pitching) to not only help players make the necessary adjustments for the desired improvements, but more importantly, to teach players how to help themselves. He has a knack for presenting the information at just the right level for each player and learning happens during 1 on 1 and 4 on 1 lessons. While watching a 4 on 1 session, it is clear that Joe keeps in mind each individual player’s strength and weakness, giving helpful critiques and commendations as appropriate. The 4 on 1’s often end with a challenge or mini game between the players but personal growth is always the main goal.

Use of the facility for cage rental is a great perk as well. Our sons used it to workout with other members, as well as cage time to dedicate extra time taking the lessons learned to the next level. Additionally, throughout the year, there are special events held at the facility where MLB coaches hold clinics that players can attend. Our boys have had the privilege to work with Perry Hill, Dave Jauss, and Juan Nieves over the years. While the kids learned quite a lot, we also gained an appreciation of them and their teachings and support over the years.

Espinosa Baseball has been an integral part of all three of our son’s growth. Baseball is a game of highs and lows. Though our older sons are away most of the year, playing college and summer ball, when they feel as though something isn’t quite right with their swing, they always go back to the basics. Drills and fundamentals that they worked on at Espinosa Baseball to help make the adjustments to get back on track. If your baseball player is looking for advanced training and is committed, you have found the right place. Joe will be committed to giving your child the tools they need for their journey!

There are not many people I would trust to teach hitting to my own son. Joe Espinosa is definitely one of them!

Mike Epstein
9 year MLB player, mentored by Ted Williams

Espinosa Baseball also brings in opportunities to be coached by top national MLB professionals. This is an incredible opportunity for players. Teddy has worked for several years with Juan Nieves— pitching coach for the Detroit Tigers. Honestly, to have the opportunity to be coached, taught, and mentored by someone of this magnitude and experience and expertise has been beyond words. Juan treated Teddy just like any other professional player and spent time really coming to know him as a baseball player but also as a person. It is an unthinkable opportunity and one that is integral to the Espinosa program. Such a gift! Impossible to say enough about the program!
